The Shocking Truth About Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis Questions Answered

Hi, I’m Dr. Walter K. Crooks.

What I’m about tell you about Multiple Sclerosis is going to shock you and probably make you mad that no has told you what I’m going to tell you.

People diagnosed with MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS that take immuno-therapy drugs…many (if not most of them) just don’t get better.

Don’t believe me?

Take a few hours and join some different online discussion groups and chat rooms for people diagnosed with MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS. If you haven’t done this…you’re in a for a rude awakening.

These multiple sclerosis groups and chat rooms are littered with hundreds and thousands of lost souls—who are taking the drugs just like they’re supposed to….and still have all the same symptoms—plus some new ones.

They suffer with

  • Crushing Fatigue
  • Stiffness
  • Incredible pain
  • Slurring words
  • Brain fog
  • Clumsiness
  • Can’t find words
  • Memory loss
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Dizziness and vertigo

And don’t bother quoting multiple sclerosis research statistics from studies funded by drug companies. The REAL drug trials happen when hundreds of thousands of MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS sufferers get prescribed these things.

Be honest with yourself…how many different drugs have you been on? 3? 5? 7?

Isn’t that why you’re reading this right now? You know you need to do something different about your multiple sclerosis.

Look, I understand that you’re scared…

I know what happens when you’re first diagnosed with MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS.

I’d bet a thousand dollar bill that your medical doctor put the fear of God in you, didn’t he?

Did he tell you you’d be in a diaper if you didn’t take the drugs? You’d be in a wheelchair in a matter of months if you didn’t do exactly as he said?

So of course you’re terrified of NOT taking the drugs for multiple sclerosis. But if the drugs were really the key, then why do you STILL have the symptoms of MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS?

As a side note–I do believe that these multiple sclerosis doctors believe that they are doing the right thing, but the sad truth is that many so-called multiple sclerosis experts know absolutely NOTHING about how to help MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS without drugs. Zilch. Zero.

That was the bad news. Here’s the good news…

In the next few minutes I’m going to reveal some closely guarded secrets to you they can help solve the puzzle of MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS …using my Program.

Why am I able to help people with multiple sclerosis, when you’ve been told just to live with it? Or “try THIS drug, maybe it will work better than the others you’ve tried?”

Pretty simple. I do things differently.

What makes my approach different?

To begin, what makes me different from every other neurologist, rheumatologist, Internist and GP you’ve see to try to feel good again is my treatment philosophy…

Treat the person, not their diagnosis.

Why would I say that?

Well people are mis-diagnosed every day with everything from cancer to strep throat.

And you should know, autoimmune conditions like MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS are some of the most mis-managed, misunderstood and flat-out bungled problems in health care.

The second reason I say Treat the Person no their diagnosis is that a “diagnosis” is just a label. It’s generic—and really not helpful, as you’ll see in just a second.

A traditional diagnosis label of “Multiple Sclerosis” just isn’t good enough.

Think about it, all that multiple sclerosis label is saying is that you have a set of symptoms….the label is not describing WHY you have the symptoms. …its NOT explaining what has gone wrong.

Haven’t you ever wondered.. “Why is my body acting this way?”

It s just like if you came to me and said, “I’ve been diagnosed with Migraine headaches. Help me.”

Ok, great. There’s about 50 reasons you could have migraine headaches. That label gives us a place to start. The label is the beginning, not the end.

It’s not like I can turn to the “migraine” page in a book and know exactly what to do.

And you can’t just turn to the multiple sclerosis chapter of a book and see the 3 things to do for every person.

I  know that sounds silly…but that is EXACTLY how you’ve been treated, isn’t it?  Get an MRI. Take this drug. How do you feel? Get an MRI. Take a different drug…keep repeating for drugs 3, 4,5,6 and 7.

My practice is different.

—In my practice I take a functional approach…I make a functional diagnosis.

Here’s what I mean…Multiple Sclerosis is an IMMUNE SYSTEM problem…so I want to determine exactly HOW your immune system is working.  How is it functioning? Or mal-functioning? What caused your multiple sclerosis?

Fortunately, you CAN test your immune system and find out.

—I have a program—a drug free program—that can help you….finally give you the relief you’ve been longing for. It’s very simple, there are 4 parts to my program..

Diet

Lifestyle

Supplementation

Brain Based Rehab

Diet simply means that you WILL have to change what, when and how you’re eating. If you’re not willing to do that…stop reading right now.

People accepted into my Program get extremely detailed guidance on diet. What to eat…what NOT to eat…shopping lists….menus…

Lifestyle means sleep, how you handle stress, appropriate exercise…I guide my practice members by the hand and show the exactly how to get deep, restful sleep….how to teach their body to RELAX and de-stress….I show them exactly which exercises they should do, how much and how often..or even if exercise is appropriate at all.

Supplementation means that I use very specific natural, drug-free supplements to help correct the imbalances and shift your body back to normal again.

Brain-based rehab uses a large menu of sensory stimulations, cognitive activities and special physical movements to target and strengthen the specific parts of your brain and nervous system that have been weakened by the MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS.

Let me explain how and why I busted my butt to create this Multiple Sclerosis Program for people like you….

My first passion is Functional Neurology.

Functional neurology is a specialized approach to looking at the brain and nervous system.

Science has shown us in the last twenty years that if you give the brain the correct stimulation, it can improve, change, re-mold, grow new connections.

Here’s the great part…, it is possible to systematically diagnose specific areas of the brain that are weak, and change those weak areas through non-invasive rehabilitation.

For many years, I used this to exclusively treat people with chronic health problems.

By using this Brain-Based approach, we were helping people turn around their lives, giving them a chance to live a normal life again, even after countless doctors and specialists had given up.

Sounds great, right?

But there was one group of patients that kept seeking my help but  I just didn’t get the same degree of stellar results…

You guessed it…people with MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS.

These people were desperate…I could instantly see it their eyes and on their faces.

The needed someone to listen to them. To take the time it was going to take to get to the bottom of their problem…finally.

Honestly, I got frustrated and ticked off. At myself and at all the so-called “specialists” these men and women had wasted their time with.

I vowed that I was going to find a way to help these souls who were in medical limbo.

This led me on a journey to find what I was missing.

A few days after I made that vow, I made an important personal discovery.

I looked at myself in the mirror one day and I realized I had been making a HUGE mistake….

As it dawned on me…I could feel it in the pit of my stomach (you know that feeling?). Something BIG was about to happen—

I was doing what everyone else was trying to do….

I was looking at the human body like it was a bunch of little compartments.

I was focused on symptoms…chasing them…but not really UNDERSTANDING how the immune system worked and how it could go wrong. And not just the immune system, but the GI system, endocrine, nervous system….all of them.

If I was going to live up to my word—and help these people (young and older) feel energetic, vibrant and fulfilled—I was going to have to understand and investigate ALL of these systems, AT THE SAME TIME.

So I spent thousands of hours studying , the immune system, the digestive systems, hormones, the nervous system…

It was this intense study of physiology, neurology, and immunology that led to my greatest discovery…

Multiple Sclerosis can’t be solved by taking medications.

I know…I felt like I was thinking something that was so “out of the box” –like blasphemy almost—so radical that the Medical Police would come and arrest me.

Well that never happened.

What did happen is that these people I had been struggling like  hell to help…they got better. Their crushing fatigue, the depression, brain fog and memory loss…they all got better.

Oh, sure, there are a lot of doctors that don’t like me and what I have to say about multiple sclerosis because it hits them like a slap in the face.

But I’ll tell you….I don’t really care if it hurts their feelings…or if they disagree with me…the “proof is in the pudding” as they say.

Here’s why you taking these multiple sclerosis medications is pretty much guaranteed to disappoint you and frustrate you  and make you want to give up. And what I’m about to tell you  totally confuses 99% of Medical Doctors and Alternative Medicine doctors…

Blood sugar levels, anemia, adrenal gland health, GI infections, food sensitivities, thyroid function, cortisol, inflammation—all of these affect Multiple Sclerosis.

Have your other doctors ever investigated ANY of these factors? If you were seeing an “Alternative” doctor, Maybe one or possibly two on that list got checked..and even then barely.

I check every ONE of those factors (and more) when I’m helping a person with Multiple Sclerosis.

Let me explain why the MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS medications are a dead end.

I’m going to help you understand how your immune system works and how it went wrong to cause you to have multiple sclerosis….

You’re about to get more multiple sclerosis education than most of the doctors you’ve been to…

Let’s start with the basics…

Your immune system is basically your body’s army.  It patrols your body looking for things that don’t belong—like cancer cells, viruses, bacteria, fungi, unfamiliar proteins.

The immune system is called into action when it detects an “antigen.” An antigen is something that body recognizes as foreign, or sees as an invader. The immune system responds by first trying to kill the antigen directly….and then making antibodies that will “tag” the antigen so the immune system can find it and hopefully dispose of it.

So, you can have antibodies (post-it notes) floating around for ANYTHING your immune system has recognized as an invader: viruses, bacteria, parasites, food proteins, metals, even chemicals.

Fortunately, the body has a barrier system in the GI tract, lungs and brain. It’s like the Great Wall of China—built to keep out invaders. If an invader bumps against the Wall, then the Wall’s local immune system (army) can activate and hopefully dispose of the invader.

Think of this as a “barrier” system. (In fact, in the brain it’s called the Blood-Brain Barrier.) Only very specific kids of substances should make it through the wall, right? Vitamins, minerals, fats, amino acids—things like those.

Imagine the catastrophe if your barrier system started to break down…and viruses, parasites, chemicals, metals and large food proteins could slip past the wall—and into your body.

And that’s the problem…

Many, many people have a barrier problem—either in the gut, the lungs or in the brain, or all three. What this means is that things that don’t belong have now ‘broken through the gates.’

Now the big guns are called into action…

Your immune system has two divisions: TH1 and TH2.

TH1 is called “cell-mediated” immunity. This response involves the call-to-arms for these “soldier” cells: macrophages, natural killer cells (NK), antigen-specific cytotoxic T-cells….and the release of messenger chemicals called “cytokines.”

TH2 is called “humoral” immunity.  Humoral immunity is the making of antibodies specific to the antigen and the making of B Cells. These antibodies ‘tag’ the antigen like a Post-It note so other cells in the immune system can find it and de-activate the antigen (or just kill it).

Normally, a healthy person has a relatively balanced immune system between TH1 and TH2. Sure, over the course of a day or week or month, there are some swings to either side— but there is not a dominance of one side over the other.

The problem is when the immune system develops an abnormal dominance, or “shift.”

For example, a person may have an on-going huge TH2 response, but very little TH1. This would be called a “TH2 Dominance” or “TH2 Shift“ (could just as easily be a TH1 dominance).

This kind of imbalance is found in people that have an ‘auto-immune’ condition— in which their immune system attacks not only the invader, but also mistakenly attacks the body. This attack and damage to the body is a “true blue” autoimmune condition.

Of course, the million-dollar question you want to know the answer to is …

“What causes the immune system to become unbalanced?”

This happens for two reasons:

  1. The immune system has been unsuccessfully trying to kill something (or tricked into trying to kill something) for a long time.  This is the Active Antigen Pattern.

  1. The immune system has been pushed into imbalance by inflammation, hormone surges, vitamin deficiencies, emotional stress or chronic blood sugar problems. This is the Immune Dys-regulation Pattern.

I’ll explain the Active Antigen Pattern a little further….

Let’s say you’ve been invaded by a virus that you can’t kill.

Well, your immune system says to itself…”Heck, let’s increase our response and try harder to kill this thing.”  If this second effort doesn’t work….then it ratchets up the volume and tries again…and again…and AGAIN.

Over the next months and years, the immune system becomes unbalanced as either TH1 or TH2 are boosted so high that it tips the scales of balance.  The end result is an abnormal dominance.

Here’s how foods can cause the same thing to happen…

Let’s say that you have developed a leaky gut barrier. But you don’t know it. You go through your normal daily routine. You get up and eat a “good” breakfast: eggs, toast—maybe you’re not big breakfast eater, so you just opt for some cereal. The toast and cereal are made of wheat which contains the protein gluten.

Because you have a leaky barrier, some of these partially digested foods slip through the leaky barrier and back into your body.  Your immune system gets called into action because it knows that partially digested toast and cereal shouldn’t be in your bloodstream.

Now your immune system detects them as invaders…makes antibodies to it… and the inflammation attack begins…..

Immune system activation = inflammation.  Every time your immune system fights something –whether correct or not—inflammation is part of the process.

…So now you have antibodies to gluten. You are “sensitive” to it. You “react” to it. Every time you eat gluten, your immune system goes on red alert and inflammation fires up and tries to kill it.

Over time the immune system can get so stimulated that it mistakenly targets body tissues.  Tissues that ARE NOT supposed to be antigens. It’s like a glass is filling up with water, getting closer to the rim, and then spills over.

Here’s the really crappy (pardon the expression) thing about gluten reactions and celiac disease:

Over 50% of people that are having an immune system inflammatory reaction to gluten have NO gastrointestinal symptoms at all.

No wonder they wander for years without a correct diagnosis. In fact, many people with autoimmune problems don’t know they have one until their symptoms become unbearable.

Let’s talk about how hormones, blood sugar, vitamin deficiencies and inflammation cause the EXACT SAME kind of imbalance. (This will be quick).

Hormones:

Surges of the female hormone progesterone and estrogen during adolescence, pregnancy, childbirth and menopause can “flip the switch” and cause the imbalance.

Blood Sugar:

Long-term high levels of blood sugar and insulin cause inflammation throughout your entire body.  This inflammation can push TH1 or TH2 so high that it tips the scales

Vitamin Deficiencies:

By far the most common vitamin deficiency linked to this immune system imbalance is a Vitamin D deficiency. Normally, Vitamin D feeds a type of T cell called a “Regulatory T cell.” The job of this Regulatory T Cell is to keep the immune system response in-check, not let it get out of control.

So, you can see what happens if you don’t have enough Vitamin D….

—> Regulatory T Cells are weak —> Immune system is allowed to over-react and behave abnormally.

And getting sunlight exposure is NOT nearly enough to correct this problem.

Those factors are what cause the Immune Dys-regulation Patern.

And now you have a full-blown imbalance.

Now, depending on the person, this fired-up immune system can make antibodies to myelin. Myelin is the insulation around the nerves in your brain and nervous system. .

These antibodies help the immune system mistakenly kill myelin.  This is an autoimmune attack.

There are millions of people walking around right now, suffering, that have been diagnosed already with MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS.

But many people don’t even have a label yet. They’re not in the “diagnosis code book.” And they get overlooked, misdiagnosed and ignored. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

To effectively manage any of these problems, I have to get answers to the following questions….

  1. Do you have a TH1 or TH2 dominance?
  2. Do you have an “Active Antigen Pattern” or “Immune Dys-regulation Pattern”?
  3. What is the Antigen? or…What factor caused the dys-regulation?

This distinction is CRITICAL. These two patterns are treated in COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ways.

Here’s how I find the answer to these questions…

I’ll assess your TH1 and TH2 cytokines (messengers) to determine if you have a dominance of one side over the other—this is critically important.

And I will dissect your immune system’s response by looking at a T & B Cell Panel and Natural Killer Cell Activity (NKA) . These are the tests that tell me if you have an Active Antigen Pattern or an Immune Dysregulation Patern. This is absolutely essential to correct management of your autoimmune problem. Here’s why….

An “active antigen pattern” requires completely different support than a “dys-regulated” pattern. In fact, getting this wrong can make you a whole lot worse. (And it’s also why no one’s been able to offer you any real, long-term relief..why you still suffer).

Because the health and balance of your immune system is strongly linked to hormone levels and blood sugar regulation I’ll also need to assess the health of your adrenal glands, hormones, gastrointestinal system and a special blood chemistry panel.

And I will absolutely test you for reactions to gluten, milk, soy, yeast and egg as well as using a genetic test to determine if you have the genes for celiac disease and/or genetic gluten sensitivity.

That probably sounds like a lot of tests, doesn’t it? Well, it is.

And I know you may have already had a laundry list of tests, but I will guarantee you haven’t had these.

And even if you had been lucky enough to get some of these tests done,  the doctor who ordered them didn’t know how to interpret them or what to do with the results. (No slam on your previous doctors. It’s just the awful truth of the state of health care).

And it’s worth pointing out that, in reality, NO other doctor is going to do what I’m describing to you right now. They just simply won’t do it. Why?

One reason is they just don’t know that they need to. They’re seriously behind the times, living in 1940s, 50s and 60s. They are using a model that is outdated and doesn’t work. They’re not current on the latest scientific research (not “research” paid for by drug companies) and certainly don’t know how to use natural supplements and nutrition.

The second reason is–they and the insurance companies don’t consider this comprehensive approach and testing “medically necessary.”  Do you know what the definition of “medically necessary“ really is?

What’s the minimum we can do and not get sued?

What a terrible joke! The system is broken and it’s no wonder people suffering with autoimmune conditions literally have NO chance in that system. None.

Believe me, after you’ve seen a few truly desperate people suffering with horrible brain fog, clumsiness, vertigo, fatigue….

– AND you’ve seen, with your own eyes, and heard them tell you how much better they are; how much happier they are now that they can go through a day without crying from the pain and frustration of multiple sclerosis.

—AND thank you for finally doing what needed to be done to find out how to help them…

…well then you understand how “medically necessary” this kind of approach  really is. No matter what any insurance company or drug company or out-of-touch doctor thinks to the contrary.

Once I have the information from these tests I can get a clear picture of what’s actually going on with your immune system function….

I  then design a specific program of diet, lifestyle and supplementation for your specific and individual situation. (based on all those factors I”ve been telling you about There are no cookie-cutter protocols.

It’s not like going to your MD and being given a prescription based on how you feel, or your symptoms. And then being told to “live with it.” Or “good luck.” What kind of multiple sclerosis treatment is that?

The thing you have to understand and appreciate about MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS is this…

We can greatly minimize, reduce and manage multiple sclerosis problems with diet modifications and specific supplementation so that…

You feel good again… Feel better than ever.

And  you can do the things that are important to you—that make life feel normal again. You can enjoy life without suffering with multiple sclerosis.  Without being afraid.

The key to YOUR success, the key to stopping the slow downward slide that I know gnaws at you every day you get up… is getting ALL the information necessary –all the jigsaw puzzle pieces—to give a comprehensive picture and getting it done RIGHT NOW. It’s time for you to take control of your multiple sclerosis treatment.
